The Royal Family has made a statement on behalf of Charles, the new King.
"The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of great sadness for me and all the members of my family. We deeply mourn the death of a beloved sovereign and a dearly beloved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt across the country, kingdoms and commonwealths and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and supported by our knowledge of the deep respect and affection in which the Queen was so widely held", the new king writes in the statement, according to BBC.
The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed great social changes. Upon her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country as the new King and head of state for the 14 Commonwealth realms. / Labyrinth
