An American embassy official was able to visit basketball star Brittney Griner, who has been in Russian custody for more than a month, the BBC reports.
"She was found in good condition", a State Department spokesman said.
The 31-year-old has been held in Moscow since February, when customs officials allegedly found cannabis oil in her luggage.
She could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
